The updated AFAC Australasian Inter-service Incident Management System (AIIMS) Principles 2025 online course was released on 27 February 2026.
The updated AFAC Australasian Inter-service Incident Management System (AIIMS) Principles 2025 online course was released on 27 February 2026. The course supports incident management personnel to apply a more flexible, inclusive, and safety‑focused approach to AIIMS.
The new course reflects the changes introduced in the AIIMS Manual (2025 edition) and remains fully aligned with the accredited 22612VIC course in AIIMS.
The course builds a strong understanding of the principles and key concepts that underpin the system, incorporating the practical changes introduced in the latest manual. These updates formalise safety first as an official principle of AIIMS, reinforcing safety as a foundational consideration in all incident management activities.
The online course consists of 14 modules and 5 assessment tasks. The course provides a flexible learning experience suitable for people who may work within a team-based AIIMS incident management structure, across agencies and jurisdictions.
While AFAC is the internet protocol owner of the AIIMS courses, AFAC is not a registered training organisation (RTO) and does not deliver training directly. The AIIMS courses (both AIIMS principles and AIIMS awareness) are delivered by RTOs who have a license agreement with AFAC.
Many AFAC member agencies and approved RTO commercial providers are delivering AIIMS. A list of commercial RTOs delivering the AIIMS Courses can be found here.
