Community Engagement for Disaster Resilience (2020)
AIDR’s Community Engagement for Disaster Resilience (2020) outlines the principles, approaches and core elements of effective community engagement. The purpose of the handbook is to provide guidance to engage inclusively with communities, drawing on the strengths and perspectives of a diverse range of individuals and groups.
The handbook recognises the value of approaches to engagement which cater for variations in age, gender, sexual orientation, disability, cultural and language background or heritage, socio-economic status or any aspect of diversity. This handbook also provides guidance about monitoring, review and evaluation, to support ongoing learning about effective community engagement and to build the evidence base.
PDF’s of all handbooks are freely available to download on the Australian Disaster Resilience Knowledge Hub: https://knowledge.aidr.org.au/collections/handbook-collection/
