In May 2018, a Memorial Wall was unveiled at the site by The Hon. Angus Taylor MP, Minister for Law Enforcement and Cyber Security. The wall displays the names of emergency services personnel who have been killed in the line of duty and honours their commitment to keeping our communities safe.
The wall was jointly funded by the Commonwealth of Australia and AFAC, the National Council for fire and emergency services in Australia and New Zealand.
An annual service is held at the Memorial in early May, around St Florians Day, each year to remember those who have died in the line of duty. The families are invited and they receive an AFAC Memorial Medallion
The medallion features the wattle representing Australia and the silver fern representing New Zealand. The star symbolises our countries, states and territories working together. The words 'honour, courage, sacrifice' are words taken from the National Emergency Services Memorial site in Canberra, which AFAC thought best suited the significance of service of those who have died in the line of duty.
Medallions are designed to be a small token for families of those left behind, to let them know that the fire and emergency service sector in Australia and New Zealand, honours their loss and stands beside them in their grief.
