The spirit of sharing, collaboration and innovation is solid within AFAC and along with our many industry partners and sponsors AFAC will pursue every opportunity to ensure our industry is well placed to support, protect and conserve what our communities’ value. 

AFAC’s strategic direction for the next seven years is guided by five key Goals. These goals are a high level statement of the outcomes AFAC wishes to achieve.

Goal 1 - Leadership and advocacy

A sector with high levels of visibility, credibility and influence which impacts on policy development, strengthens relationships and partnerships, reduces barriers and facilitates access to funding.

Goal 2 - Environmentally sustainable fire and emergency management practices

Promoting and encouraging environmentally sustainable practices in fire and emergency services.

Goal 3 - Consistent and effective approach to the provision of services

An approach to services where integrated planning is risk based and adaptable in all operating environments and where systems and practices are interoperable.

Goal 4 - A culture that nurtures and supports knowledge creation and evidence based decision-making

Easy access to quality information, with high levels of agency interaction and where networks allow the development of shared understanding, creating an environment where there is access to the accumulated knowledge of the sector.

Goal 5 - A fire and emergency services sector with capability and capacity

Consistency in ensuring volunteers, staff and contractors are safe, skilled, capable and resourced and providing the business management and infrastructure necessary to support service provision to the community.
