AFAC member agencies are heavily involved in the development of a range of Australian and International Standards.
This involvement is focused on ensuring emergency management requirements are taken into account when Legislation, Regulations and Codes are developed, reviewed or amended.
This practice area is highly specialised and their work technical in nature.
Priority attention is being given to the lack of compliance with building related standards and advocating that complex planning codes take into account the Legislation and guidelines.
Significant attention is also being paid to achieving economies of scale by developing common specifications for specialist emergency management equipment.
