DFES has a legislative role to manage a range of emergencies within Western Australia.
A strategy document, New Beginnings 2024, has been released that outlines Stage One of a 12 year strategy of the newly created Department. It focuses on the Strategic Direction that will guide the Department, as well as articulating the Strategic Outcomes and Stage 1 Actions. The document also outlines the Emergency Management Arrangement for WA and the ongoing Reform Program.
The Department is led by the Commissioner for Fire and Emergency Services, Mr Wayne Gregson APM.
