The Rural and Land Management Group provides Council with operational and policy advice in relation to fire management in the natural and rural environments. It develops benchmarks for improved management of fire in the natural and rural environment and fosters and promotes greater integration and sharing of information in support of evidenced based fire management within member agencies with fire responsibilities for natural and rural lands.
The Group addresses member agencies’ significant operational issues. It is primarily concerned with assisting member agencies to improve their operational performance.
Group members have high level expert operational knowledge and are acquainted with and capable of influencing agency values, culture and strategy.
The Group works closely with a number of national and international bodies including:
- Bushfire CRC
- Wildland Fire Aviation Technical Project Group
- Australian and New Zealand Forest Fire Management Group
